FAQ
The short answers. Anything else, say g'day.
Are you a tour company?
No. Outback Maasai is a Perth family's four-wheel driving and camping page, with an online shop for our own tee designs. We don't sell or run trips.
Can I come to one of your camps?
The camps are our crew: friends, families, kids. If you're camped nearby, come and say g'day.
What does Maisha Msafirii mean?
Life, traveller. Maisha is Swahili for life, and Msafirii comes from msafiri, Swahili for traveller. They're the names on two of our rigs, and still the whole idea in two words.
Why "Outback Maasai"?
Kenyan roots, Australian outback. It started with a few mates in Western Australia with Kenyan roots and a habit of heading bush. Now it's for anyone who'd rather be out there: the free spirits, the first-timers and everyone in between.
What does Namelok mean?
"Beautiful woman" in Samburu and Maasai. The back print is our own portrait of a Maasai woman — strong, proud and at home wherever the road leads.
What's the difference between The OG and Namelok?
The OG has the tree badge on the back. Namelok has the portrait. Both have OUTBACK MAASAI on the chest.
What do Osotua, Born to Tour and Jioni mean?
Osotua is a Maa word for a sacred bond between people, built on giving and looking out for each other. It's the brighter take on our Namelok portrait, with a tyre tread wrapped around her. Born to Tour is our way of saying born to explore (we're not a tour company). Jioni is Swahili for "evening": the hour when the sun drops, the fire gets going and camp settles.
Where are the tees made?
Each one is printed on demand by our print partner after you order it. It's made at one of their print facilities (it has them in places like Australia, the USA, the UK and Europe), usually the closest one that makes that tee. If yours is made in another country, it can take longer to arrive and may attract import fees, as set out in our Shipping policy. That means no warehouse pile and no dead stock.
How long does shipping take?
Tees arrive in about 1–3 weeks. Hoodies arrive in about 2–5 weeks. AU & NZ shipping is A$13, free over A$120 or on any 3 tees. The Maasai Shuka is a flat A$20, posted from Perth (Australia only). Outside AU & NZ, shipping is shown at checkout. All the details are on Shipping & Returns.
How do your sizes run?
The OG men's/unisex tee is a retail fit, The OG women's tee is a relaxed cut, and The OG kids' and toddler tees are a kids' cut, not a shrunk adult tee. Use the garment measurements in the Size Guide. Some lighter colours are slightly sheer.
Can I return something that doesn't fit?
Because every tee is made just for you, we can't take returns for the wrong size or a change of mind, so check the Size Guide first. If something arrives damaged, misprinted or wrong, email us a photo at outbackmaasai@gmail.com within 30 days of delivery and we'll reprint it or refund you.
How do I look after my tee?
Wash cold, inside out. Don't iron the print.
What currency are prices in?
Australian dollars. The store can display your local currency in many countries.
Can you feature my photo?
Tag #outbackmaasai or @outbackmaasai. We'll ask before we share anything.
How do I get in touch?
Email outbackmaasai@gmail.com or use the contact form. We usually reply within 2 days.
